It was a small intimate affair and you really got to share in the love that they had for each other. The food was fantastic and I can't remember the last time that I had that much fun on the dance floor. At the wedding I also got to reconnect with another friend who recently got engaged. The singles aisle is fast becoming a ghost town.

It's beginning to get breezy in the singles aisle
Last night I attended a friend's wedding which was a unique and fun experience. The ceremony was a blend of Japanese and western traditions resulting in something that was totally them. They met in Japan hence the Japanese part of the program.

What I've been up to
I've been absent for a while and I promised a reason or two in explanation.
Firstly I spent some time helping to take care of my niece. Anyone who's spent some QT with a newborn knows that you sleep when the baby sleeps. That also meant I was on bottle and baby holding duty more often than not and I loved it!
Second reason, well I was just plain lazy. It was my first proper vacation (as in stayed in one place relaxing) in almost a year. Time spent with family is the best. I saw both the sibs and went to Ohio to visit my extended family. It was awesome!
Now back toTy jr, who happens to be my pride and joy. She has an awesome collection of names. Her initials are N. M. L. M-B (yeah she has two last names). She will have fun learning how to write them all down. It will unfortunately make it a lil harder to get stuff monogrammed for her but I look forward to customizing the hell out of stuff as soon as I can afford it.
I also started a new job this week and I'm interning as an Continuity / Risk Analyst -- same place as my previous job. I have started on my career and that is enough to make me get up every morning bright and early even though I am not a morning person. Right now my job ties in rather nicely with the volunteer work that I am doing with the RC.

Tuesday Beat: My Top 9 of 2009
My faves for 2009 are (not necessarily premiered in 2009):
9. Jay Sean - Down - I liked the guy way before was popular this side of the pond so he makes my list. Gotta shout out the Adil Ray Show on BBC Asian Network for first introducing me to him.
8. Kings of Leon - Use Somebody
7. Alicia Keys - That's How Strong My Love Is
6. Tracy Chapman - The Promise (2008) - I love this song because it personifies a promise that I would like to make to my wife.
5. Solange - Stillness Is the Move
4. Keri Hilson - Knock You Down ( Most of her songs would have made my list)
3. Rihanna - Te Amo
2. Leona Lewis - Don't Let Me Down.
1. Beyoncé - Single Ladies - Hate it all you want, the song is the shit. Don't front like you don't know the dance or words. All ma single ladies holler back!
Honorable mentions - Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone, Pink - Sober, David Guetta - When Love Takes Over, Beyoncé - Ego, Jay-Z - Run This Town

Please support Haitian relief efforts
It has been a while since I've written here and I do have several very good reasons for the absence. They'll be in the next post though.
I would like to encourage the readers to text YELE to 501501 to donate $5 dollars via Wyclef's Yele Haiti Fund, and if you text HAITI to 90999 you'll send $10 to the Redcross's relief fund, find out other ways to help at redcross.org as well.
As someone going into the disaster technology field, it has been hard to watch the relief efforts unfold. We really do have a long way to go in improving how we respond to disasters.
Please keep our Haitian brethren in your thoughts and prayers.
